A highly selective university in the midwest has launched the Affordable Instructional Resources (AIR) initiative that aims to make instructional resources affordable for its first-year undergraduates. To raise awareness of the issue and support faculty the AIR initiative has been building a network of faculty and staff interested in reducing or eliminating costs associated with required textbooks and supplemental material. The initiative is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and libraries.
